| The redundant negation for blame is an atypical and marginal redundant negation and has been ignored by linguists for long. This paper will analyze it from four perspectives, i.e. syntax, semantics, pragmatics and cognitive. We summarize the syntactic features and semantic features of this redundant negation. Then we analyze its pragmatic effect and formation from a cognitive perspective. The study mainly includes the following five parts:Chapter one:Introduction. This part will focus on the object, research significance, research methods and content of the paper. We also introduce the current research status of redundant negation and the source of the corpus.Chapter two:A brief introduction of redundancy and redundant negation. In order to present a general understanding of the object to readers, we will explicit the definition of redundancy and redundant negation. Besides, we will classify the two in great detail.Chapter three:The syntactic and semantic analysis of the redundant negation for blame. This chapter will analyze its components and summarize their syntactic and semantic features. The followed composition X is a complex phrase or sentence in affirmative forms, which expresses unhappy behavior, It occurs in the past. X has negative and controllable features.Chapter four: The pragmatic and cognitive analysis of the redundant negation for blame. Redundant negation violates the maxim of quantity. But it expresses speakers’ negative attitude and judgment. At the same time it enhances the tone of the sentence. It is a structure which reflects the subjectivity of language. It is also a result of the subjectivisation. This paper analyzes the subjectivity of this redundant negation in the aspects of perspective, affect and epistemic modality. We think that the redundant negation for blame is caused by the addition of its implicative meaning.Chapter five: Conclusion.
