Analysis Of Chen Duxiu’s Confucianism In The New Culture Movement

Chen Duxiu is a person with far-reaching influence in the fields of culture and politics in modern Chinese history.He founded the "New Youth" magazine,led the new cultural movement,and promoted modern civilization and culture.He was the standard-bearer of ideological enlightenment and cultural innovation.Mao Zedong called it " Commander-in-Chief of the New Culture Movement".In this massive and far-reaching ideological emancipation movement,Chen Duxiu fiercely criticized the Confucian Gangchang Mingjiao,and was therefore regarded as a radical and anti-traditional representative.The connotation of "tradition" was deeply explored and pointed out the specific meaning of "tradition" in its context."Tradition" has dual connotations of history and practice.Chen Duxiu does not totally deny tradition.While criticizing Confucianism,he also brought back Confucius and Confucianism under the cloak of imperial Confucianism.This article believes that Chen Duxiu regards the essence of "Confucianism" as a way of understanding Confucianism of"Gangchang Mingjiao".It is an important innovation at the time of the disintegration of traditional Confucianism and the formation of modern Confucianism,which opened up an important way of Confucianism research in the 20th century.It is jointly accepted by the liberals and the historical materialism and continues to develop.The writing of this paper is first based on literature.The core text is the newspapers and periodicals founded or co-organized by Chen Duxiu,such as "Anhui Common Saying","Jiayin","New Youth","Weekly Review",etc.,and also written by him.Biographies such as "Shian Autobiography",personal chronicles,biographies,etc.compiled by the researchers,as well as related research works and papers,especially the latest research results on related issues in recent years.Based on the literature,historical data and previous research results,trying to complete the above argument.The main body of this article is divided into three chapters.The first chapter elaborates the internal logic of the development and evolution of modern Confucianism,demonstrating that Chen Duxiu’s Confucianism in the New Culture Movement is the inevitable result of the disintegration of traditional Confucianism;Combing Chen Duxiu ’s personality traits and the ideological and cultural resources on which he relied on it,and pointed out that Chen Duxiu ’ s rebellious character,active attitude towards entry into the world,and well-known talents are the subjective reasons for his Confucian understanding and constitute the source of his personal touch in Confucianism.Chapter Two mainly analyzes Chen Duxiu’s view of Confucianism,his specific criticism of Gangchang Mingjiao and the general tone of his evaluation of Confucius.It points out that the Confucianism that Chen Duxiu opposes is mainly the religious Confucianism created by Imperial Confucianism and Kang Youwei.Gangchang Mingjiao It is the core of Confucianism,and for Confucius,he actively affirmed the historical Confucius and criticized the post-Confucian forged image of Confucius.The third chapter mainly discusses that the way of Confucian understanding of"Confucianism is Gangchang Mingjiao" is an important contribution of Chen Duxiu,which provides new ideas for the modern transformation of Confucianism.Chen Duxiu started the research method of critical inheritance and historical analysis of traditional Confucianism.We cannot simply think that Chen Duxiu is radical and anti-traditional,but we must also see his theoretical contributions to the inheritance of traditions.
