The Tiger and The Tiger Weekly,two comprehensive periodicals based on political writings,had left a profound influence on the history of cultural and ideological thought in the Republic of China.Recently,the academic circle paid more and more attention to them,and the literary research circle should pay more attention to their value reflected in the development of new literature.In the two periods,the fans of The Tiger made rich explorations in the aspects of literary columns,themes,types and narrative modes,and created a large number of poems,essays and a small number of novels during the more than ten years of the publication of the two journals.Although literary activities were not the focus of The Tiger,its literary column and all kinds of literary texts aroused great controversy in the cultural circle at that time.This paper will focus on the literature column of The Tiger in the two periods,according to the following ideas:the preface to discuss the reasons for this topic,and introduce the academic circle has always been the two periods of The Tiger and Zhang Shizhao’s research situation.The first chapter mainly discusses the relationship between Zhang Shizhao’s personal situation and the development of The Tiger,and explains the specific situation of setting up the literary column of The Tiger in the two periods.The second chapter focuses on the contents,taking the literary columns of The Tiger in two periods as the main research object,mainly exploring the development and change of several literary columns and corresponding literary styles,such as criticism style,poetry works and note-taking works,etc.The third chapter introduces the discussion on the boundary between literature and non-literature by the researchers of new literature from the Revolution of 1911 to the 1920s,and the discussion on the literature view of The Tiger in the two periods.Some researchers do not recognize the literary characteristics of this kind of political journalistic publications,it is necessary to make a clear debate on this issue and discuss the literary color of political journalistic publications.Based on the above investigation,this paper looks at the overall literary performance of The Tiger in the two periods,and discusses its performance and evaluation in the literary field at that time in the dimension of the history of new literature.Finally,the conclusion is extended from the political concept,cultural concept and literary interest of the publication:The changes of the literary column of The Tiger in the two periods are the overall historical process.There have been a lot of changes in both the contents of the journal and the literary concept,and it also shows new characteristics under the impetus of the factors of the times.But there is also a connection in spirit and temperament,which reflects a lot of preservation and inheritance,and it is still of great value for the study of new literature to continue to think deeply.
