Abstract/Summary:
College students,as one of the most extensive groups exposed to network information in today’s society, have an important influence on promoting the development of physical and mental health by their body image level and eating habits. For college students who have left their parents and just stepped into society, they are in the stage of cultivating independence and individuality. Therefore, under the influence of complex and diverse network environment, they are faced with more social realistic requirements and greater life challenges. Many college students have wrong ideas about their body image and eating habits. They want to be loved, accepted and appreciated, but because of wrong ideas and ways, they have low self-esteem,too critical of themselves, and ignore the real needs of their bodies for a long time.Based on the above-mentioned situation,706 undergraduate students were tested with the Chinese version of Multidimensional Body Self-Relationship Questionnaire,Intuitive Eating Scale-2 and Chinese Version of Self-Compassion Scale, aiming at understanding the status of college students’ body image and intuitive eating, and taking self-compassion as an intermediary variable on the basis of previous studies to test whether there is an intermediary role between body image and intuitive eating. In the research process,SPSS22.0 software was used to describe the data, variance analysis, independent sample t test, correlation analysis, regression analysis and other statistical methods, and Bootstrap was used as the intermediary effect test, and the following research results were obtained:1.There are significant differences in demographic variables in the weight self-classification dimension of college students’ body images.2.There are significant differences in demographic variables among the four dimensions of intuitive eating:unconditional permission to eat, eating for physiological eating for physiological reasons rather than emotional reasons,self-criticism and over-recognition.3.There are significant differences in demographic variables among the three dimensions of self-criticism,isolation and over-recognition.4.There is a significant positive correlation among body image, intuitive eating and self-compassion.5.Self-compassion partially mediates body image and intuitive eating.Based on the above research results, college students with higher body image level are more likely to form a healthy eating habit of intuitive eating. This suggests that individuals with a clearer understanding of their body and higher satisfaction are more likely to accept and appreciate themselves, and thus learn to respect the real needs of their body and choose a positive and healthy way of eating. Therefore,to effectively improve the level of body image of college students, guide them to learn to understand and accept themselves, calmly face the challenges and setbacks in life, has a positive role in promoting them to develop good eating habits.
