The theme of Zhang Chao’s ballad "Sing to the cowherd named Er Xiao" comes from the same name ballad "Sing to the cowherd named Er Xiao",which is co composed by Fang Bing,a famous Chinese writer and poet,and Li Huofu,a famous composer.It is a piano piece adapted from vocal music and has strong storytelling.Through playing the work,studying the relevant literature and interviewing Zhang Chao,the author analyzes the conceptual characteristics and development of the adapted works of vocal music;studies the creative process of the work,the embodiment of the author’s creative ideas from the work;explores the author and the nationalization development of steel piano.In order to provide a reference perspective for the future study of the author and the work,vocal music adapted piano works and the creative concept of Chinese piano works,and also hope to provide some help for the performer how to play the deeper meaning expressed in the work.
