| As a writer with a doctorate in law,Ai Ma’s novels contain a great deal of observation,reflection and expression of law.Such as the reasonability of legal provisions,the conflict between law and folk customs,law enforcement,justice,the mental outlook of people who study the law and so on.Moreover,the legal expression in Ai Ma’s novels shows distinctive characteristics in the legal expression since the new century.The expression of law in the current novels is often pessimistic,and the writer has no idea of changing the law actively in the works,but only criticize and deconstruct blindly.Ai Ma’s works have a profound revelation of the legal dilemma,and at the same time,she is idealistic and caring.She not only constructs idealistic characters in her novels,but also cares for the poor people under the law without discrimination,and tries to use religious ideas to redeem and comfort people’s psychological wounds and make up for the shortcomings of the law.The narrative art of Ai Ma also has its own distinctive features,such as the multi-line parallel narrative structure that pays attention to breadth,the implicit and elegant language,and the narrative technique that reflects the laws of The Times from the details of daily life,all of which add much color to her legal expression.At present,there are very few studies on Ai Ma’s novels from the perspective of legal expression.The research on Ai Ma mainly focuses on her early series of Censhui town novels and the images of intellectuals in her novels.Some people also noticed her criticism of the current law,but they did not analyze how Ai Ma’s criticism of the law is different from other writers’ legal criticism in the new century,and did not notice that she considered the defects of the law from the essential drawbacks of instrumental rationality.This paper is divided into three parts.The introduction clarifies the reasons for this topic and sorts out the current research status of Ai Ma.The body part consists of five chapters,which respectively analyze the historical background of Ai Ma’s legal expression,the content of her works and the artistic characteristics.The first chapter analyzes the contemporary context of legal expression and the influence of Ai Ma’s personal experience of studying,working and reading on her creation.The second chapter sorts out Ai Ma’s Revelations about various dilemmas in law: the degeneration of judges and law professors makes fairness and justice become an extravagance;the conflict between folk culture and legal system makes the process of rule of law difficult;the defects in legal provisions bring pain and even tragedy to many people.The third chapter studies the idealism and redemptive consciousness of Ai Ma’s novels.The fourth chapter studies the narrative art of Ai Ma’s novels.The fifth chapter studies the unique value and defects of legal expression in Ai Ma’s novels.The epilogue points out the necessity and significance of legal expression and the prospect of legal expression in the novel.Based on the relevant theories in China and the West,this paper focuses on the legal expression of Ai Ma’s novels,clarifies and studies the significance and limitations of her legal expression,and enriches the personal study of Ai Ma.At the same time,this paper compares the differences of legal expression between Ai Ma’s novels and contemporary novels,and points out the advantages and disadvantages of the current literary realistic writing in legal expression dimension,which is a supplement to the literature research in the new century. |
