With the implementation of the new curriculum reform,teaching evaluation has attracted wide attention.As students who have just come into contact with English,primary school students should not only learn the basic knowledge,but also cultivate their interest in English learning.Therefore,the importance of English teaching is self-evident.Teachers need to know about students’ English learning,and evaluation plays a key role in students’ learning.Multiple evaluation refers to an evaluation method that uses two or more methods to evaluate.It emphasizes the multiformity of the subject of evaluation,the multiformity of the evaluation method and the multiformity of the evaluation content,rather than judging the learning effect of students through a single examination.To understand the application of multiple evaluation in primary school English teaching,the purpose of this study is trying to use different ways like evaluation and application evaluation tools to students,discusses whether students’ learning produces change from multiple evaluation in the primary school English teaching.Focusing on students’ learning interest,confidence and performance,the feasibility of applying,multiple evaluation to classroom learning is concluded.In the process of exploring effective ways to implement multiple evaluation in primary school English classroom,this study mainly discusses the following research questions: 1)Can multiple evaluation improve pupils’ interest in learning English? 2)Can multiple evaluation improve pupils’ English learning strategies? 3)Is multiple evaluation beneficial to improving pupils’ English achievements?In this study,78 students from two classes in grade three of a primary school in Urumqi were taken as the research subjects,and the diversified evaluation of primary school English classroom is carried out through experimental research.Class 2 of Grade 3 is the experimental class,and Class 4 of Grade 3 is the control class.Before the implementation of the multiple evaluation experiment,the students in the two classes were pretested in the use of English test,their starting scores were evaluated,and a questionnaire survey was conducted in the experimental class.In the process of the experiment,the multiple evaluation tools were used in the experimental class to carry out the experimental research of multiple evaluation.After the experiment,the students of the two classes were post-tested with the final English test papers,and the students of the experimental class were given questionnaires again to analyze the changes of the students’ English test scores.Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics,paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test in SPSS 26.0 statistical software.The results show that multiple evaluation has a positive impact on primary school English teaching in the following aspects: 1)The implementation of multiple evaluation has greatly stimulated and improved students’ interest in learning and self-confidence,and made students more actively participate in classroom activities,so that students hold a positive attitude towards the multiple evaluation;2)The implementation of multiple evaluation improves students’ learning strategies;3)The English scores of students with poor English foundation have been greatly improved,indicating that multiple evaluation is helpful to improve students’ English scores,the effective application of multiple evaluation can cultivate students’ sense of independent study and cooperation,and form good writing strategies.It can be seen that the application of multiple evaluation can,to some extent,improve students’ interest in learning,improve their learning strategies and improve their academic performance.Based on the above research results,this paper summarizes the following enlightenment and suggestions for multiple evaluating approaches: 1)The concept of teaching evaluation needs to be constantly updated;2)For students of different levels,the subject,content and method of evaluation should be different;3)Teachers can promote the personalized development of students through evaluation. |
