A Translation Report Of Sci-tech Text Based On Venuti’s Domestication And Foreignization

As many countries have rushed to develop 5G technology in recent years,China has quickened the pace of 5G-network coverage.With the advancement of telecommunications and the acceleration of 5G commercialization,provinces are deploying this technology at a gratifying pace.Thus,research on 5G has become particularly important.The translator chose to translate two chapters from 5G Basis-Core Network Aspects,hoping it would help enhance the public’s understanding of this technology.Scientific and technological texts feature many long and difficult sentences and are full of technical terms.How to enhance the readability of EST while ensuring that the sci-tech text accurately conveys information is the focus of the translation practice.Under the guidance of Venuti’s domestication and foreignization,the author analyzes methods for translating terms and sentences in the text.Based on the characteristics of technical terms,the author explores the practical ways to handle abbreviations,compound words and semi-technical words,so as to provide guidance for term translation.Non-finite verb is widely used in the original text,which has caused some confusion to the translator.The author,as the case may be,discusses the translation of long and difficult sentences in the text,and puts forward some translation methods such as passive-to-active translation,splitting,amplification and recasting,etc.hoping that the practice of E-C translation can provide some reference for domestic researchers in related fields.
