Xiao Yi is a representative of the literati in Qi and Liang dynasties,a leader of the palace poets, and a scholar with great achievements. In addition to poetry,Cifu and Jin Lou Zi,Xiao Yi’s works contain 134 parallel prose, which are rich in content and exquisite in diction. They are of great research value, but rarely mentioned. Therefore, this paper intends to take Xiao Yi’s parallel prose as the research object, combined with the style of the times and personal characteristics,in order to grasp the ideological content and formal art of Xiao Yi’s parallel prose relatively comprehensively. This paper is divided into three chapters:The first chapter is the interpretation of Xiao Yi’s parallel prose, and the analysis of his thought system in connection with the mainstream ideology of the Southern Dynasty. The content of Xiao Yi’s parallel prose is different from that of other schools. He advocates loyalty and filial piety, but also pursues seclusion and "Quan Shen".His parallel prose also reflects the collision and integration of different ideas, and the combination of Confucianism,Buddhism,Confucianism and Taoism is reflected in the "Xiao Gan Shen Ming" and the dynasty Yin respectively.Confucianism is the main axis of his thought, which makes him yearn for "Quan Shen" but not for longevity, and yearn to cultivate his spirit and nature to achieve immortality. The second chapter is the analysis of the form of Xiao Yi’s parallel prose, connecting with the prosperous style of Qi Liang parallel prose, analyzing the form skills of Xiao Yi’s parallel prose.Xiao Yi’s parallel prose reflects the literati’s attention to antithesis, allusions and ornaments at that time, but he does not blindly pursue form, pays attention to the formal beauty of the article and has personal thinking. He made great efforts to promote the process of "four six" parallel prose in Qi and Liang dynasties. He was dissatisfied with Qi and Liang’s practice of competing in the use of affairs, summed up many manifestations of improper allusions, and put forward and practiced the idea of "Shi Sui Yi Zhuan".Influenced by the times, his parallel prose is not lack of color modifiers, but more excellent description of light, shadow and sound. He is also good at tempering verbs and making good use of function words and scattered sentences. The third chapter is Xiao Yi’s reflection on Liang’s parallel prose, summarizes Xiao Yi’s view on parallel prose, and discusses his practice.Xiao Yi emphasized the content and form of literary works and opposed the excessive use of allusions, pays attention to the expression of personal feelings in literary works, and gives consideration to the Enlightenment of articles. However, his parallel prose fails to reach the standard of "Xu Qing Zhi".With the outbreak of Hou Jing rebellion as the boundary,Xiao Yi’s parallel prose creation can be divided into two periods. In his early stage,Xiao Yi’s parallel prose had few personal sincere feelings and lofty ideas. In his later period,Xiao Yi’s parallel prose reflected the military situation and politics, and had real feelings of life and thoughts of relatives and friends. However, most of his later parallel prose were practical prose, and on the whole,he had less personal feelings.Xiao Yi’s parallel prose did not represent the highest achievement of literary transformation at the end of Liang Dynasty, and the lack of emotional expression should have a certain impact.
