| With the development of economy and society and the increasingly frequent international communication,English writing,as a language output skill,is becoming more and more important.Senior high school is an important stage in the formation of students’ English writing proficiency,and it is necessary to focus on the cultivation of students’ language expressive ability,especially the ability of using words to construct sentences.However,there are many errors in the English writing of senior high school students,which not only affects the expression of the article,but also is not conducive to the development of students’ language ability.Error analysis aims at using the method of sample analysis to study and correct students’ errors in English writing,to find out errors pointedly,to effectively help students avoid errors as well as improving students’ English writing ability.Thus,the author studies the errors of senior high school students’ English writing and tries to answer the following three questions:1.From the perspective of error analysis,what are the types of errors in senior high school students’ English writing?2.What are the characteristics of errors in senior high school students’ English writing?3.What are the causes of errors in senior high school students’ English writing?Based on the error analysis,the author analyzes 318 English writing samples from two science classes in Grade 2 of Nanning No.33 High School.The research data showed that:1.English writing errors of senior high school students mainly distribute in the following three aspects: substance errors,text errors and discourse errors.Substance errors mainly include misspelling,unused or overused capitals and errors of punctuation.Text errors mainly involve lexical errors and syntax errors.Discourse errors include macro errors and micro errors.2.The errors of English writing in senior high school students are concentrated.As for substance errors,misspelling accounts for the highest proportion,and the other two kinds of errors are less.In text errors,lexical errors are more than syntax errors.Among the lexical errors,the three types of errors with the highest frequency are errors of verbs,prepositions and nouns.In syntax errors,the simple sentences are more frequently used than the subordinate complex sentences and errors in this sentence are more than errors in the subordinate complex sentences.As for discourse errors,the number of micro errors is far more than that of macro errors.3.There are three main causes of senior high school students’ English writing errors: factor of interlingual transfer,intra-lingual transfer and other non-linguistic factors.Interlanguage transfer is mainly caused by the interference of the mother tongue.Intra-lingual transfer mainly includes over-generalization of lexical rules,misuse of lexical and syntactic rules and false association.Insufficient time to write,unfamiliar writing topics and attitudes towards writing errors are the causes of non-linguistic factors.Finally,in view of the errors in English writing in this study,the author puts forward corresponding implications for teachers and students: to present examples of writing errors;to give intensive training on correcting writing errors and to cultivate students’ discourse structure awareness and logical thinking ability;to pay attention to learn vocabulary and sentences,to pay attention on the study of systematic grammar rules,and to develop good English writing habits. |
