A Comparative Study Of Chinese Versions Of The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn From The Perspective Of Eco-translatology

Professor Hu Gengshen proposed eco-translatology in 2001.This theory conducts a holistic study of translation from an ecological perspective,and believes that the translation process is a process of continuous adaptation and selection with translators at the center.In China,many scholars have successfully applied ecological translation analysis to the field of novels.The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn is one of Mark Twain’ s classic works and is deeply loved by readers.So far,the predecessors’ research on the novel and its translations has mainly focused on literary and linguistic perspectives.Few people have systematically compared and analyzed the translation version of novels from the perspective of eco-translatology.Therefore,the thesis,selecting the two translation versions from Zhang Yousong and Chengshi,and starts from the three-dimensional transformation of eco-translatology.By comparing the translation ecological environment of the two translators,and the similarities and differences between the two translations in terms of language,culture,and communication dimensions,it is concluded that the ecological translation environment contains many influencing factors,such as the social environment,translator’ s background and translation experience,etc.,therefore,the two translators make different adaptation or selection by adopting different translation techniques for example literal translation or free translation,domestication or foreignization in the translation process according to different ecological translation environment.This research helps to deepen the understanding of the theory of eco-translatology,and also provide some new ideas for further translation research.
