Reading ability is an important part of language ability and one of the important criteria for measuring language ability level.To a large extent,the cultivation of reading ability can promote students’ language ability.The cultivation of senior high school students’ English reading ability in senior high school English teaching is one of the important requirements for senior high school English teaching in the new curriculum reform.At present,the development of science and technology and multiculturalism has promoted most of the information transmission activities manifested as multi-mode,which requires people to have the corresponding modal reading ability.As a result,the traditional senior high school English reading teaching model can not meet the development of the times.This makes it necessary to further explore the multi-modal teaching model in senior high school English reading classroom.This paper mainly focuses on the teaching modes used in senior high school English reading classroom and the hypothesis that multi-modal teaching mode can promote students’ learning interest and reading ability is proposed.Based on this,this paper will be supported by systemic functional linguistics,multimodal discourse analysis and constructivism theory.This paper will try to explore the related concepts and research findings of multi-modal teaching mode in senior high school English reading classroom and further research the multi-modal reading teaching mode by designing questionnaires and interview outlines.As for the research method,questionnaire survey and experimental comparison will be used to test and verify that multi-modal teaching mode is obviously superior to the teaching mode which contains less modes in high school reading classes.The research shows that through the application of multi-modal reading teaching mode,the learning interest for English and English reading ability of senior high school students are promoted.The obvious improvement provides a new way for the front-line senior high school Englishteachers to carry out English reading teaching.It is hoped that this paper can provide some useful references for the construction of multi-modal English reading teaching mode in senior high school.
