A Study Of Character Conversation Under Turn-taking And Its Translation

Conversation is a common linguistic phenomenon in daily life.Turn-taking,as the core content of conversation analysis,plays a vital role in conversational communication.This paper combines the TV play Parents’ Love with turn-taking theory,and discusses the specific application of turn-taking theory in TV series.This not only helps us to understand the dialogues of the characters in Parents’ Love more clearly,but also deepens the deep understanding of the turn-taking of the dialogues.At present,the research on turn-taking mainly focuses on literary works,interviews and classroom dialogue between teachers and students.There are few studies on character dialogue in TV plays.Therefore,this paper takes the character dialogues in the TV play Parents’ Love as the research object,and analyses how the turn-taking theory is reflected in the character dialogues in the TV play.It also combines turn-taking theory with cooperative principle and politeness principle to explore the Uyghur translation of dialogues in the TV play Parents’ Love.This paper is divided into six parts.The first part mainly introduces the basis,purpose and significance of topic selection,summarizes the current situation of conversation analysis and turn-taking research,and introduces the source of corpus and research methods;the second part introduces relevant theories;the third part describes turn-taking in Parents’ Love from the rules and methods of turn-taking;the fourth part describes conventional turn-taking and unconventional turn-taking.The fifth part,combining the politeness principle and the cooperative principle,makes a detailed discussion on the translation of the characters’ conversation.Finally,the conclusion of this paper summarizes the contents of the analysis.
