| Language learning strategies and autonomous learning abilities are hot topics in language learning.Based on the concepts and literatures of language learning strategies and autonomous learning ability,this research focuses on the correlation between language learning strategies and autonomous learning ability of English major college students.In this study,questionnaire and interview are combined as research instruments.This study mainly analyzes and discusses the following three research questions:1.What is the overall situation of language learning strategies? What is the level of autonomous learning ability?2.To what extent are the significant differences in the use of language learning strategies between language learners with high and low autonomous learning abilities?3.What is the correlation between the six different language learning strategies used by college English major students in their language learning and their autonomous learning ability?The researcher selects 127 juniors from a certain university as the research objects,and collects the data using two research tools,questionnaire and interview.The results are statistically analyzed using SPSS19.0.The results show that: First of all,English majors have individuality in the use of language learning strategies,and there are obvious differences.English majors’ autonomous learning ability is also at different levels.Second,high autonomous learning ability students and low autonomous learning ability are on the choice of language learning strategies which are obvious differences.The students with high autonomous learning ability students prefer to use cognitive strategies,metacognitive strategies,emotional strategies and social strategies for language learning.Finally,there is a significant positive correlation between the language learning strategies and autonomous learning ability.Therefore,language learning strategies and autonomous learning ability are in positive correlation relationship.It is hoped that the conclusions and teaching suggestions obtained from this study can provide useful help to English major teachers and English major students. |
