The Stroop Color-naming Effect Is Affected In Facilitation Effect And Inhibition Of Return | Posted on:2022-06-27 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:J Qin | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2505306476986299 | Subject:Basic Psychology | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Previous research has found there are three attention sub-networks in human brain:alerting,orienting and executive.The relationships between these sub-networks is a hot topic among related studies.Based on the results found in previous research,our study revealed the impact of space clues under different SOA conditions on non-spatial information conflict tasks,in combination with space cue-target paradigm and Stroop color-naming paradigm,according to the effect size and change of Stroop conflict at the cueing position and the non-cueing position.Then,this paper discussed the mechanism of the mutual effect between attention-orienting network and attention-executive network.There were four experiments totally in this study:In experiment 1,a 2×2 in-subject experimental design was conducted to investigate the regulation of the color Stroop task by the inhibition of return.We found that there was mutual effect on the inhibition of return and the color Stroop task,which indicated that there exists interaction between orienting attention network and executive control attention network.In experiment 2,a 2×3 in-subject experimental design was performed to uncover the reasons for the influence of inhibition of return on the color Stroop task.We found the phenomenon of inhibition of return can still be observed when color words were at inconsistent positions,indicating that the influence of inhibition of return on color Stroop is because the inhibition of return affects the early processing of early processing of perception.,resulting in slackened processing of subject word meaning and then explicitly facilitating the conflict task resolution.In experiment 3,a 2×2 in-subject experimental design was conducted to investigate the influence of orienting attention network on the color Stroop under facilitation conditions.We found the mutual effect between orienting attention network and color Stroop task is not significant under facilitation conditions,proving that space cues will not affect the color Stroop task,which is inconsistent with the attentional resources theory.We speculate that,beyond attention,whether clues match color words would also significantly affect Stroop effect.In experiment 4,a 2×2×5 in-subject experimental design was performed to investigate the changes of color Stroop effect at cueing and non-cueing positions in the process of spatial attention from facilitation to suppression.We found that when the SOA is 400 ms,650ms,900 ms,and 1150 ms,the color Stroop conflict tasks on the effective clues are reduced,indicating that the regulation of the color Stroop tasks by the inhibition of return is not affected by SOA.In summary,this paper discusses the impact of orienting attention at two stages of facilitation and inhibition of return on the color Stroop task.Our results indicated that orienting attention has no regulating effect on color Stroop task under the facilitation condition;orienting attention under the inhibition of return condition can affect the color Stroop task,which is because the inhibition of return affects the early processing of perception,thereby indirectly reducing stroop color-naming effect. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Inhibition of return, Stroop color-naming effect, Orienting attention, Attention-executive control | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
