Research On The Publication Of Novels In Beijing In The Late Qing Dynasty

In the late Qing Dynasty,the novels in Beijing area were mainly published in two forms: newspaper and pamphlet.Based on the extensive collection of materials,this article conducts relevant research on the publication of newspaper novels and pamphlet novels in Beijing during the late Qing Dynasty.The first part combs and explains the general situation of the novel publication in Beijing area in the late Qing Dynasty.The publication of pamphlet novels focuses on the continuation of traditions,but new novels with various themes have appeared after the "the revolution in the novel circles".The number of novels published in newspapers fluctuates greatly over time,and the number of novels reprinted is relatively large.The promotion of vernacular Chinese,the renewal of novel concepts,the gradual development of newspapers and periodicals and other factors all promoted new changes in the novels in Beijing during this period,while the political atmosphere and cultural tradition kept some traditional elements in the novels.In addition,it focuses on the interpretation of the content and viewpoints of the three novel theoretical articles published in Economic Series,and analyzes the similarities and differences with Liang’s Preface Of Translating Political Novels and On the Relationship between Novels and the Rule of the Masses.The second part focuses on the study of the pamphlet novels.Before the revolution in the novel circles,Beijing mainly published continuations and reprints of traditional novels.This article analyzes the reasons for the above phenomenon;after the revolution in the novel circles,Historical novels and detective novels appeared.Then,with the typical representative work The Biography of the Heroic Youth as the research object,it discusses the influence of the publication and dissemination of the novel on the later generations of Beijing-featured novels and the old tragic martial arts novels of the Republic of China.The third part focuses on the newspaper novels.On the one hand,the novels published in the Beijing area during this period showed great traditions.The novels published in the Business News continued the traditional concept of fiction records,and the Shuo Liao Zhai of the Beijing Xin Bao was rewritten with content.On the other hand,many new novels have appeared in newspapers,such as The Legend of Black Slaves and Hai Guo Miao Yu.In addition,this article also focuses on the novel concepts and content themes of Shun Tian Times in novel solicitation and novel publication.
