| In recent years, with the continuous development of Netnews comments, speech space has been greatly expanded.Through the Internet, people can more truly and freely express different views on the same thing or phenomenon,so that the pluralism of opinions can be formed. The critical opinions in the Netnews comments make the media’s supervision function better realized in Internet. This practice report attempts to analyze the choice of translation methods in the process of translating, based on the translator’s translation practice in the second chapter of Engaged Journalism: Connecting with Digitally Empowered News Audiences.Engaged Journalism is the book written by professor Jack Batsell who studies the changing relationship between journalists and readers through interviews with reporters and editors.Guided by the Relevance Translation Theory proposed by Ernst Auguste Gutt, the translator regards the translation process as a double ostensive-inference process,in which the translator is both the receiver of the source text and the transmitter of the target text. The translator takes the Optimal Relevance Principle as the translation criterion and makes case analysis from lexical and syntactic levels. And as for terminologies, pronouns, difficult sentences and long sentences, the translator adopts literal translation, amplification and omission of pronouns, liberal translation, word order adjustment and other translation skills respectively and try to achieve professional translation.Meanwhile, based on the features of popular sci-tech texts, this report illustrates how to solve the problems encountered in translation through case analysis,so as to summarize the translation strategies and methods applicable to such text. The research shows that the Relevance Translation Theory is of great guiding significance for sci-tech text translation and can provide translators with a new perspective in translation. The translator hopes that professional translation of foreign works can provide reference for domestic Netnews and contribute to the further development of domestic news digitalization. |
