The Study Of Lu Guimeng’s Fu

Lu Guimeng was a famous literati and hermit in the late Tang Dynasty.He was good at writing poems and articles,so he was well-known in Jiangnan area as early as the late Tang and Five Dynasties.Many of his works have been preserved to this day,including nineteen Fu and more than six hundred poems.The current research on Lu Guimeng mainly focuses on two aspects,one is his poetry creation with Pi Rixiu,and the other is his identity as a hermit.In comparison,his Fu has received less attention.This article takes Lu Guimeng’s Fu as the research object,and tries to conduct in-depth and systematic research on his Fu.The systematic study of Lu Guimeng’s Fu is mainly carried out from four aspects: creative background,ideological connotation,artistic characteristics and the position of his Fu in the history of literature.First of all,start with the creative background of Lu Guimeng’s Fu.He lived in the chaos and darkness of the late Tang Dynasty.The decadent doomsday atmosphere made Lu Guimeng’s Fu reveal a strong sentimental mood and reclusive thoughts.At this time,although the ancient prose movement has gradually faded away,its influence on Fu has not completely faded.This prompted Lu Guimeng,who is concerned about reality,to create works of argumentation,prose and satirization.The tradition of picking scholars in poetry and Fu in the Tang Dynasty promoted the prosperity of Fu style literature,and each style showed a diversified style,which provided a good environment for Lu Guimeng to create in various styles.Secondly,combined the life experience of Lu Guimeng to explore the theme and ideological content of his Fu.The subjects of Lu Guimeng’s Fu are mainly divided into two categories: chanting things and sentiments,all of which are drawn from daily life.The family background of the official family strengthened his desire to make meritorious deeds.The chaotic society of the late Tang Dynasty made him unable to realize his ideals and had to choose to live in seclusion.Therefore,his Fu contains not only the desire to become an official,but also a true record of the reclusive life.In addition,his Fu also reflects reality,criticizes the evils of the times,concern the mass’ hardship and show the intense critical spirit.The subject matter is rich and varied,and the emotions are sincere and complex.Thirdly,study the artistic characteristics of Lu Guimeng’s Fu according to the various styles of Fu.Based on Ma Jigao’s Fu style classification theory,Lu Guimeng’s nineteen Fu were divided into four categories: Pian Fu,Lv Fu,Shi Fu,New Wen Fu.The Pian Fu of Lu Guimeng is characterized by the use of many famous allusions,and the sentence structure is very flexible.Not only the form is exquisite but also contains deep connotation.His Lv Fu is also the traditional works in the novelty ethos that people pursued.His Lv Fu writing is very structured and is a typical excellent work.It can be called textbook examination articles.The Shi Fu of Lu Guimeng is written in the four-character line with plain language and profound implied meaning.On the basis of his predecessors,his New Wen Fu further strengthened the degree of discussion and prose,and almost abandoned the narrative requirements of Fu.He has made bold innovations,and different styles of Fu have distinct artistic characteristics.Finally,analyze the acceptance the Fu of Lu Guimeng in later generations and explore its status in the history of literature.First,Lu Guimeng created the image of “Qiju”,which represents contenting with poverty,and contributed a new cultural symbol of seclusion to the history of literature.On the one hand,his Fu inherited the traditions of the Six Dynasties’ pursuit of formal beauty and the spirit of the Ancient Prose Movement in the Mid-Tang Dynasty.On the other hand,he opened up the prosperity of the New Wen Fu in Song Dynasty.Lu Guimeng’s Fu is not only a key link in the history of Fu,but also the outstanding representative in the Fu of the late Tang Dynasty.
