A Study On The Complexity,Accuracy And Fluency Of Written Language Of Foreign Students In The U.S.,Japan And Vietnam Based On The T Unit Measurement Method | Posted on:2022-02-19 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | Country:China | Candidate:Y R Zhou | Full Text:PDF | GTID:2505306488473614 | Subject:Chinese international education | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | Complexity,Accuracy and Fluency(CAF)have gradually become recognized standards for evaluating learners’ language development.In this paper,This paper uses the T unit measurement method to study 180 corpora of Chinese learners from the United States,Japan and Vietnam in the HSK dynamic corpus,so as to understand the differences in three dimensions of written CAF of Chinese learners from the United States,Japan and Vietnam at different levels.The results show that the overall lexical complexity and overall accuracy increase with the increase of learners’ writing level at different level groups.The internal indicators of syntactic complexity,fluency and accuracy did not increase with the increase of learners’ writing level.It shows that the complexity,accuracy and fluency increase non-linearly with the increase of learners’ level.According to the analysis of the internal interaction relationship of indicators,there is also a complex relationship between competition and cooperation among the three dimensions.Among different countries,there is no significant difference between American,Japanese and Vietnamese Chinese learners in complexity.Japanese and Vietnamese learners of Chinese culture circle are better than American learners in accuracy,while Japanese and Vietnamese learners are lower than American learners in fluency.And there is no significant difference between Japanese and Vietnamese learners in three dimensions.Based on the analysis and discussion of the research results,some suggestions on teaching Chinese as a foreign language are put forward.First of all,we should emphasize the correctness of language output and strengthen the writing practice of Chinese characters.The accuracy of language expression is an important factor that affects the quality of writing.Secondly,it pays attention to the accumulation of vocabulary to expand the reserve of advanced vocabulary of learners.Thirdly,teachers should help students through the "bottleneck period".By understanding the differences in CAF of learners from different countries,teachers can conduct country-specific teaching.In the teaching of American learners,emphasis is placed on the accuracy of writing.Integrate Chinese cultural factors into daily teaching to improve students’ sense of identity with Chinese culture and language.In the teaching of Japanese and Vietnamese Chinese learners,the aim is to improve the students’ confidence and improve the fluency and complexity of their expressions. | Keywords/Search Tags: | Written Chinese, complexity, accuracy, fluency, American,Japanese and Vietnamese Chinese learners | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
