J.K.Rowling’s masterpiece Harry Potter has become a “Pottermania”.The themes of gender, race, power, and multiculturalism in Harry Potter make it not just a children’s novel, but a work with multiple social meanings.Harry Potter has gradually received more attention from literary critics and scholars. The vast magical world of Rowling includes a wide variety of creatures and magical things. But not every life is equal in this magical world.Just as in the real world, there is also a confrontation between humans and nature.Harry Potter’s triumph and Voldemort’s defeat reflect the consequences of two very different worldviews.Only when human beings realize that all things are a community, and they learn to live in harmony with all things, will they be able to survive. This paper analyzes how Harry Potter embodies a sense of community of shared life from an ecocritical perspective. The first chapter explores the symbiosis between humans and nature.Nature is the basic part of the world. This chapter focuses on the human’s shelter provided by plants and the mutual respect and help between animals and humans to illustrate Harry Potter’s aspiration for a harmonious coexistence between man and nature. The second chapter discusses the issue of equality between races. This chapter analyzes the issue of equality between wizards and Muggles, wizards and other magical races in Harry Potter.War between Muggles and wizards can only result in a lot of sacrifices, and discrimination and oppression to other magical races will eventually be resisted.Only by treating all races equally can all livings achieve common prosperity. The third chapter examines the communication between humans and things.Magic gives life to things, and they can be found everywhere. This chapter analyzes the bidirectional choices between things and people, the help offered by things and the dangers of using them blindly.Through how to use things and how to communicate and interact with them,it illustrates that humans need to learn to coexist with things.Harry’s ultimate victory over Voldemort is consistent with Harry’s equal treatment of all things and Voldemort’s disdain for nature and his disdain for the natural world, discrimination against other races, and contempt for things.Rowling’s love for nature, different races and magical things, and her desire for humans to understand them properly and to live in harmony with them reflect the work’s strong sense of the community of shared life.
