A Preliminary Study Of Nanjing Ministry Of Works In Ming Dynasty

After Yongle Emperor moved the capital to Beijing,the status of Nanjing as a political and economic center declined.However,a set of relatively complete six department organizations retained in Nanjing,the capital of the Ming Dynasty,was not in vain.Nanjing Ministry of industry has a close relationship with Beijing Ministry of industry,and its functions are different from those of Beijing Ministry of industry.Starting from the background of the two capital system in Ming Dynasty,this paper makes a detailed analysis of the institutional evolution,official setting and daily operation of Nanjing Ministry of industry.Under the Ministry of industry of Nanjing,there are four bureaucrats in charge of Yingxiu,Yuheng,Dushui and tuntian,as well as Yingxiu,Baoyuan Bureau,weaving and dyeing Bureau,military Bureau and Anji Bureau.The Qing Dynasty official department is mainly responsible for the construction and repair work,including the repair works of Nanjing city wall,inner and outer yamen,huangchengmenpu,Mausoleum temple,bridge,etc.Yu Hengqing was mainly in charge of the mountains,rivers,forests and rivers.He was responsible for the requisition and supply of birds and animals’ skins,and the transportation and delivery of lacquer and iron.Dushui qinglisi was responsible for the maintenance and repair of Nanjing’s bridges,roads and water caves,and the transport of water vessels and combat readiness warships of various guard stations were also made by him.In charge of farming,cattle,paint,firewood and charcoal supply.There are many kinds of materials collected and explained by Nanjing Ministry of industry,and the craftsmen are in charge of Jiangxi,Huguang and Fujian.This paper analyzes the selection and promotion law of the Minister of Nanjing Ministry of industry,the way of official reserve and transfer,and explores the appointment situation of the Minister of Nanjing Ministry of industry.Under the influence of the political environment at that time,compared with Beijing officials,Nanjing officials were in a relatively inferior position in terms of promotion opportunities.The economic function of Nanjing Ministry of industry is outstanding.Under the system of the two capitals,it basically effectively realized the Ming Dynasty’s management of the economic center "Jiangnan" region,National Engineering and construction related affairs.
