Study On Xunzi’s Thought Of “Li”

In the process of continuously absorbing the essence of each school,the traditional Chinese theory of “Li” gradually enriched and was concrete,then got rid of the form of concrete concept and entered into the philosophical category,and then evolved into one of the most important and basic categories throughout Chinese philosophy.In the pre-Qin period,the philosophy system of the hundred schools of thought was all concerned with the “Li”.As a master of the Confucian of thought in the pre-Qin period,Xunzi,rooted on the Confucian theory and the merits of the hundred school,formed his own complete thought of “Li” on the basis of absorbing the former philosophers’ thought of “Li” and combining the background of social changes in the middle and later period of the Warring States.Based on the development of the times,Xunzi’s thought of “Li”,integrating the thoughts of the hundred schools of thought,has rich theoretical significance and important practical significance.Therefore,the paper is based on the full text of Xunzi,and focuses on the development of “Li” in the pre-Qin period,the basic meaning of Xunzi’s “Li” thought,and the system construction based on “Li” and how to realize the order of “Li” to study his thought of “Li”.“Li” came into being in the pre-Qin period and had the meaning of “governing’’ in the“Book of Songs”.Therefore,under the background of social disorder,many scholars appealed to “Li” in their desire to re-establish the social order so that “Li” had an enormous development in the pre-Qin period.As of Xunzi,“Li” has evolved into a complete ideology containing nature,national society,and interpersonal relation and etc.On the one hand,Xunzi’s “Li” thought contains a wealth of objective rational spirit which is reflected in his discussion of the basic connotation of inner,logic,society and the world;on the other hand,Xunzi puts forward a concept on “Li” with three conceptions to regulate people’s behavior from the perspectives of social moral civilization and national political governance.After proposing the order,how to achieve order is also related to “Li”.To realize the order construction basing on “Li”,it is necessary to achieve the realm of “Great Ching Ming” so that people no longer “dark”.In Dali”;in terms of the main body,it is necessary to use the“gentleman” to govern the world.Xunzi’s “Li” thought emerged from the ideal of rebuilding order.It had the germination of order in the discussion of inner norms,logical rationality and other basic connotations.Furthermore,it clearly put forward the concept of “Li” order and thought about the way to achieve it.It can be said that Xunzi’s “Ration” has always revolved around order,his expositions on “Li” form a system of its own,and it still has important significance and value to this day.
