| Complex English clause refers to a sentence that contains one or several subordinate structures as sentence components or phrase components.From the perspective of composition,complex clauses are formed by several simple clauses through complex combinations.To further understand the characteristics of complex English clauses by paying attention to its classification is conducive to research on translating complex English clauses.Based on the relevant theoretical definition of complex English clauses,the paper reports the translation practice of Translation and Globalization and summarizes the translation problems of complex English clauses and related solutions.Translation problems in practice focus on the complex clauses from three categories.First,the problems of translating nominal clauses include implied cohesive relations,mixed clauses and passive sentence patterns.Second,the problems of translating adjective clauses include complex parallel structures,multi-levelled embedded structure and long structures.Third,the problems of translating adverbial clauses include complicated logic relations,redundant clause structure,and variable conjunctive word functions.The paper summarizes the solutions to these translation problems.For translating nominal clauses,the paper adopts methods of cohesive explicitation,structural component clarification,and voice conversion.For translating adjective clauses,the paper adopts methods of clauses integration,reorganization,and splitting.For translating adverbial clauses,the paper adopts methods of logical explicitation,structural reordering,and clause conversion.It is hoped that the report can provide some reference to the translation of complex clauses in similar texts. |
