A Study Of Knighted System And Fiefdom In The Northern Wei Dynasty

The Northern Wei Dynasty’knighted system is special and produces a great impression on the system of the Sui and Tang dynasties.The paper mainly discusses the knighted system and fiefdom in the Northern Wei Dynasty,as well as the related issues such as Jinei(畿内).This paper analyzes the development of the knighted system in the Northern Wei Dynasty,which is divided into the three parts about the knighted system of Dai(代国),the knighted system of Tianci(天赐),the knighted system of Taihe(太和).The first knighted system imitates Jin Dynasty,the second system is the first set of the Northern Wei Dynasty which is formed by combining the former system and its own characteristics,the third system is promulgated and implemented by Emperor Xiaowen(孝文帝)in 16 years of Taihe.This paper puts forward a discussion on the dividing line of the knighted system n 16 years of Taihe,believes that really exists in the early period of the Northern Wei Dynasty,at least before the Taihe.In particular,the Hanhua Group led by Cui Hao(崔浩)and Empress Dowager Feng(冯太后)tries hard to promote the fiefdom of the knighted system.Finally,it starts from the related problems of the system of knighthood,discussing the Jinei’s region of the Northern Wei Dynasty in the early and late period.This paper proposes that the Northern Wei used the knighted system to fuse Xianbei’s(鲜卑的)chiefdom system with The central plain’s(中原的)patriarch supervised and protected system,and unifies its central structure in the early Northern Wei period.
