This is a practical report on translation projects.The source text of the translation comes from Richard Dutton’s The Literary Life of Frances Burey.This report systematically explains the translation process,as well as the methods used,and analyzes the difficulties in the translation process.The source text is a biography.Frances Burney’s literary life can be divided into three stages: the stage of fear of doing something wrong,the stage of suppressing anger,and the stage of releasing anger.The author,Richard Dutton,quoted a large number of original works by Frances Burney in various works,and introduced how Frances Burney fought with officers with her wits and courage during the French Revolution,and was able to leave some manuscripts to us,which directly reappear Frances Burney’s writing,so that readers can understand her inner world through these fragments.The target readers of this translation practice are common Chinese.In order to achieve the expected translation effect and meet the reading demands of the target language readers,Feminist Translation Theory is used as the guiding theory for this translation practice.This practice report will adopt the research methods of example analysis and inductive comparative analysis guided by Feminist Translation Theory to improve the quality of the translation,making the translation easier to understand and easier to be accepted by Chinese readers,thus bringing Frances Burney’s legendary life to more people.The translation practice report can be divided into four main chapters.The first chapter is an overall introduction to the translation task,including the introduction of the translation project itself,the background introduction of the biographical heroine,and the importance of this translation project.The second chapter introduces the translator’s the whole translation process,including the pre-translation,mid-translation,and post-translation.In the third chapter,Feminist Translation Theory is under discussion,including the origin and development of Feminist Translation Theory,studies of Feminist Translation Theory in China and various translation methods of Feminist Translation Theory,such as: prefacing and footnoting,supplementing and hijacking.Chapter Four combines specific examples in this translation practice to analyze the use of four translation methods under the guidance of Feminist Translation Theory.The last part summarizes the entire translation practice and shares the experience gained by the translator from this translation practice,and also points out many shortcomings in translation process.
