The Research On Campus New Literature Of National Central University(1928-1937)

This thesis focuses on the campus new literature of National Central University in 1928-1937,to describe the history of writing activities in this period and to analyze the characteristics and values of literary writing from various standpoints.In the preface,this thesis reviews the history of relevant research and believes that this subject has not been fully studied.In terms of research methods,this thesis attempts to analyze the specific situation of campus new literature of NCU(1928-1937)from historical documents and literary works by textology and close reading.David Harvey’s space theory and P.Bourdieu’s literary field also influence this thesis.Based on the research of campus new literature of NCU,we think that the responsibility of campus new literature is to cultivate “new literature population”.In addition,there is a “sink-rise” mode between campus new literature of universities and dominant literary circles during the period of ROC.Chapter one starts with the capitalist urbanization process of Nanjing at that time.As a new capital,“modern” Nanking’s space production has been characterized as "centralized" from the beginning.In fact,the campus new literature of NCU was in a state of interweaving old and new from 1928 to 1937.To a certain degree,the “New Humanism” is an ideological consensus of campus literature of NCU.And we can’t ignore the“central consciousness”of its campus culture.Wen Yiduo,Xu Zhimo,Xu Beihong,Zong Baihua and Xu Zhongnian all made important contributions to the campus new literature of NCU.The last part of this chapter will give an overview of the development of new literature in NCU from 1928 to 1937.Chapter two discusses the pure literary writing in NCU Campus.In NCU,many campus writers are members of the Crescent School.These writers and its like-minded friends wrote excellent literary works.It is worth mentioning that there are intertextual features between their works from time to time.As a representative of these campus writers,Chen Mengjia’s literary writing is closely related to his love experience in NCU.We believe that most of the love poems and novels written by Chen Mengjia between 1929 and 1931 were dedicated to his lover Shi Renfan.In addition,some writers imitated or even copied Chen’s poems because of his extremely high level.Chapter three discusses nationalism literary writing and Proletarian literary writing in NCU Campus.Although the two have different ideological standpoints,both of them can be regarded as representatives of literary instrumentalism.The political and literary differences between the two sides are the embodiment of the struggle in NCU literary field and the Xiaofeng journal is the main “battlefield”.Actually,the left-wing students of NCU made important contributions to the development of campus new literature after 1934.In the conclusion,we think that the level of campus new literature of NCU(1928-1937)has not reached the height it expected.This is not only related to the suppression of campus classical literature,but also to the backwardness of Nanking’s new literature field at that time.Nowadays,classical literature and mass literature are increasingly popular,if we don’t pay attention to the cultivation of “new literature population”,new literature may lose its future.
