| Mozambique contemporary writer Mia Couto is one of the African Portuguese literary writers who have attracted much attention from readers in the worldwide literary field.He has been warmly welcomed by readers all over the world,because of his wide-ranging themes,profound ideas and innovative styles.As a writer,journalist and environmental biologist,Mia Couto has a diverse cultural identity and unique personal experience,so his creations are often based on real life.At the same time,as a male writer,he also shows his deep concern for women’s issues in his creation.This article takes Couto’s works Terra Sonambula,Jesusalém and A Confissao da Leoa as research objective with a combination of critical theories of post-colonialism feminism to explore the profound thinking about women issues in Mia Couto’s novel.The first part of the paper tries to show the survival form of women under racist oppression through careful reading of the text.Couto shelved the oppressed and exploited women in the center of the text,analyze the racist oppression that Mozambican women have to bear,showing the living state of women who were materialized and the plight of being colonized by spirit.the second part of the paper mainly analyzes the survival plight of Mozambican women shrouded in the shadow of sexism.They not only have to endure the exploitation of patriarchy,but also have to face the second oppression of them by the patriarchal "accomplices".Multiple oppression and exploitation have led to the marginalization of Mozambican women,making them lose their self-identity and become accessories and tools for men.The third part of the paper attempts to show the loss of women’s self-identity caused by multiple oppression and exploitation.Couto not only shows the realistic survival plight of Mozambican women suffering from multiple oppression and exploitation but also actively explores the ways for women to reconstruct their self-identity.Couto believes that the reconstruction of women’s identity should first rely on women’s self-voice and writing to complete self-identity.secondly,it is necessary to establish a relationship of mutual assistance with the same sex and an equal dialogue relationship with the opposite sex.Only in this way can Mozambican women get out of the predicament of survival and achieve the complete survival of women. |
