The dominant times of LeoⅢ is an important period of Byzantine Empire.With this paper, I will analyze the domestic and foreign affairs of Byzantium emperor the LeoⅢ, including his internal reform,Iconoclasm,and his policies towards foreign countrys.At last,the conclusion is that the dominant times of LeoⅢ serves as a connecting link between the preceding and the fllowing Byzantium emperor. LeoⅢ got military support from the generals in eastern theme attributed to his economy and religion policies,consquently he resisted the Arab army outside the Constantinople city wall successfully.However,his creation of Iconoclasm ascribed to the fission between himself and the Rome Pope,and finally caused the disintegration of the eastern and western provinces of the empire.The policies of the previous emperors of Byzantium had affected the rules of LeoⅢ,and the rules of LeoⅢ,especially the Iconoclasm also had an impact on his descendants like ConstantineV.
