A Practice Report On Interpreting For An On-line Conference On Wine Business

This report is based on the analysis of the transcript of World’s Leading Wines 2020 conference.During this conference,I served as the liaison interpreter for Mr.Christian González,the manager of a Spanish wine brand—U MES U.This report consists of four parts,including the task description,the interpreting process,the case analysis and the summary of the practice.The first chapter introduces the background,purpose,requirements and service objects of this task.The second chapter describes in detail the steps of interpreting process,including pre-interpretation preparations,on-site interpreting review and post-interpreting evaluation.The third chapter selects specific cases for analysis and reflection,focuses on the key points and difficulties in remote business interpretation,and summarizes the strategies,their effects and reflections on interpreter’s flaw during interpreting,which has been revised to a better version.The fourth chapter reviews the task and points out the shortcomings as well as the significance of this report.This report summarizes that the interpreter can respond to the speaker or the audience’s preference by ellipsis,transference,literal translation with notes,and convey the speaker’s speech clearly according to the context.It should be noted that the interpreter’s language ability maintains the crucial part.This report analyzes the problems existing in the interpretation practice of the author,hoping to provide some references not only to myself but also to other interpreters of remote business interpretation.
