| In order to improve learners’ learning interest,improve teaching quality and enable students to learn more effectively in a relaxing learning atmosphere,educators have been trying new teaching methods,of which the project-based teaching method has aroused much concern.Project-based teaching is a new and effective teaching method completely different from the traditional teaching method.Since few schools in China have applied the project-based teaching method,there still exist both theoretical and practical problems worth studying.This paper tries to make a study on the application of project-based teaching method in senior high school English teaching.Based on Constructivism,Dewey’s Pragmatism and Humanistic Theory and the development of project-based teaching method,this paper tries to explore the following three issues:(1)Can the specific operation of project-based teaching method help to raise students’ interest in learning English?(2)Can the application of project-based teaching method have a positive impact on students’ English scores?(3)In what aspects can project-based teaching method help to improve students’ comprehensive learning ability?The author mainly used literature review,teaching experiment,questionnaire and interview to carry out the research.The experiment was conducted in Gu Tian No.1Middle School for three months.The research objects were 101 students in two classes of senior high school.Class 5,the experimental class,adopted the project-based teaching method while Class 6,the control class,used the traditional teaching method.Quantitative analysis,pre-and post-test data,and SPSS25.0 were used for statistical analysis in this study.The research results show that project-based teaching method can effectively increase students’ interest in learning English,improve students’ English scores and help to improve students’ some comprehensive learning ability.The author also makes some practical suggestions for teachers in applying the project-based teaching method in senior high school English teaching,which is meaningful and valuable for future research.It is suggested that different teaching methods should be combined in future study to promote project-based teaching and cultivate students’ comprehensive English quality.It turns out that the application of project-based teaching method is feasible in English teaching.Therefore,this paper is of some theoretical and practical significance.It is hoped that this paper will be of some help for senior high school English teaching. |
