Existing research proves that the continuation task can promote learning through the effect of alignment,but the single round continuation task obviously has the problem of alignment weakening.A total of 50 students in the two classes of Ningbo NO.4 Senior School,Zhejiang Province were taken as subjects.There were 25 students in the experimental class and the control class,respectively.The previous test revealed that the English writing level of the two classes was equivalent.The experiments of the iterative continuation and the comparative continuation are given to the experimental class,and the practices of the single round continuation tasks are still performed in the control class.The writing productions of the two classes are contrasted from linguistic and content alignment.The study entered the four texts of the experimental class and the two texts of the control class into the computer and established six different corpora.The analysis of word frequency,syntactic structure,and error analysis were made to compare whether the two continuation variants have enhanced the alignment effect in language.The independent sample t-test was used to determine whether there were significant differences.The alignment of content is analyzed from the aspects of coherence and rationality of the plot.The research finds that: 1)Compared with the single round continuation task,the continuation variants have a stronger alignment in language form.In the two continuation variants,the vocabulary and syntactical structure of the original texts were more frequently used,and the error rate was significantly lower than that of the single round continuation task.2)Compared with the single round continuation task,the continuation variants have a stronger alignment in content.The common problems of incoherent and unreasonable plots in the single round continuation task are solved in the continuation variants.3)Through the practice of the continuation variants,students have a deeper understanding of the meaning of continuation tasks.During the interview,students stated that in the continuation variants,they were more aware of the importance of the original text to writing,and further realized the difference between the output based on input and the output without input.
