Abstract/Summary:
With the continuous in-depth research of core literacy concept,The National Ministry of Education published the new curriculum standard for English in senior high schools in 2017,which lists the main components of the core literacy of English subjects,namely,cultural awareness,language ability,thinking quality and learning ability in order to realize the educational function of each discipline.The core literacy system of different school-age disciplines is constructed and the curriculum standards and textbooks corresponding to different subjects are revised again.Thus,cultural consciousness plays a key role in English teaching.However,the English Teaching in senior high schools has been carried out around the college entrance examination.The teaching important points attach the significance to the interpretation of language knowledge and the cultural teaching is ignored.Therefore,teachers should put the culture awareness of students on the agenda in the process of English Teaching in senior high school in the future.Reading activity is a big part of the English teaching in senior high school.Therefore,the author thinks that we can cultivate students’ cultural consciousness through reading teaching,which will make some great breakthroughs in improving the core quality of English subjects.Therefore,this paper discusses the following two problems by questionnaire,interview and action research based on the reality of English Reading Teaching in the senior high school.1.How is the cultural awareness strategy used to cultivate cultural awareness in English instruction ?2.How does the use of culture awareness training strategy in reading instruction affect students’ reading scores?In this study,the author at first distributes the questionnaires to the students then analyzes the results of the questionnaire to understands the current situation of the cultivation of cultural awareness of middle school students in English reading teaching,which finds out the existing problems and analyzes the reasons.Based on this,the first stage of the research plan is formulated and implemented as soon as possible.After the end of this stage of action research,the author does a test on the cultural consciousness of students.The author found in the course of this stage of action research through the analysis of the problems.the scheme is modified and the second stage of action research is prepared.The results show that:(1)The students have insufficient cultural awareness in the process of English learning through the questionnaire,but they can realize that it is very helpful to English learning to cultivate cultural awareness.Because teachers do not pay attention to cultural teaching and ignore the materials that can help to cultivate students’ cultural consciousness in English teaching.Teachers can cultivate students’ cultural consciousness by using the whole reading analysis article,penetrating the relevant cultural background knowledge and comparing analysis of Chinese and Western culture.(2)The experimental results show that teachers use teaching strategies to cultivate students’ cultural awareness,which is helpful to students’ English reading achievement.
