| Wang Lisan,a renowned composer,music theorist,and music educator in contemporary China,dedicated his whole life to the composition of Chinese piano music and the development of national music.Wang often integrated western musical genres and modern composition techniques with Chinese national music styles in his works.The essence of his works is to tell Chinese stories and portray the Chinese landscape,which demonstrate the beauty of the East with Western techniques and provide new thinking and momentum for the development of traditional Chinese music.Wang’s masterpieces Other Mountains and Impressions of Paintings by Higashiyama Kaii are of great significance in the domestic and international musical realm.The current research on Wang Lisan’s music works focuses on his representative works from the perspectives of composition techniques and performance skills.However,his other works tend to be neglected including Capriccio of Animals,Red Soil,and Children’s Hearts.Therefore,the scope of the research on Wang’s works needs to be extended.“Childlike innocence” is a topic frequently mentioned in Wang’s works.With his innocent and carefree attitude,Wang created piano pieces including Folk Toys in G Jiao Mode and Paintings by the Little Brother.The piano suite Children’s Hearts is the embodiment of his childlike simplicity,which took him the longest time to conceive and compose.It comprises 17 pieces,each of which is concise with diverse musical emotions.The suite covers a broad range of musical topics including children’s entertainment scenarios,natural scenery,and folk songs.In this suite,Wang shifted his creation purpose from serving as etudes for children to the piano pieces for people at various ages to recall their childhood memories.The paper is composed of four chapters with the piano suite Children’s Hearts as the research subject.First,the styles of Wang’s music works are summarized based on his life experience and works composed at different life stages.Second,the paper analyzes the musical forms of harmony,melody materials,and aesthetic ideas of the suite.Third,the author delves into the meaning of teaching the suite and its performance skills,and provides suggestions on increasing the number of Chinese pieces in piano teaching,thus facilitating the teaching and performance of the suite and other works. |
