As the heart of children’s literature,picture books have always been presented to the public in the form of a combination of pictures and text,even with pictures without text.Since picture books are generally more concise in content and need to complete a graphic narrative of an entire story within a limited space,the narrative performance of picture books lies in capturing key pictures and interspersing stories with different narrative techniques.Among them,it enables readers to observe and think while flipping through the pictures,and finally convey the information and feelings that the author wants to convey to the public.Children’s picture books have intuitive,vivid,and monolinear image thinking characteristics.Children aged 6 to 12 are at an important stage of creative thinking development.Picture books can be actively accepted by children at this stage,and the unique and interesting learning form can make children read In the process of picture books,they improve their cognitive level,aesthetic ability,observation ability,creativity and many other abilities.The research on picture books is mostly expounded and discussed from the perspective of artistic creation direction or the educational significance of picture books.This article will discuss children ’ s picture books at the age of 6-12 from the perspective of the narrative expression of children’s picture books,and combine Children’s physical and mental growth angle and cognitive development levels of different age groups ultimately settled in the creation and design of picture books.This article is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,which mainly explains the research background of this article,the research status at home and abroad,and the research purpose and significance.The second chapter is the age definition of children’s picture books,briefly telling the difference between the psychological characteristics and cognitive characteristics of children aged 0-5 years old and children aged6-12 years.Analyzed the characteristics of picture books of various ages.The third chapter analyzes the narrative elements of children’s picture books of 6-12 years old,including lines and shapes,colors and styles,format and composition in the narrative elements;and linear narrative structure and nonlinear narrative structure in the narrative structure of picture books.The fourth chapter describes the narrative performance of picture books for children aged 6-12 years old,which are demonstrated by examples from four aspects: the subject matter of picture book narration,the method of picture book narration,the relationship between pictures and text in picture book narration,and the media application of picture book narration.The fifth chapter is about the creative practice of narrative picture books for children aged 6-12.6-12 Children’s picture books,as a collection of painting,literature,narration and other arts,require readers to mobilize multiple sensory organs such as eyes,ears,mouth and nose during the reading process.The presentation form conforms to the aesthetic characteristics of children at this stage.Play an important role in promoting physical and mental development.
