| Benjamin Britten is a rare composer in the 20 th century’s British music history who perfectly combines and innovates traditional and modern musical techniques.The Charm of Lullabies is a vocal divertimento created by Britten in 1947.It can be regarded as a dramatic one-man show in emotional expression,and the poetry and music of five songs are perfectly integrated.Britten not only absorbed the writing techniques of English traditional music,but also adopted various modern techniques,and formed his own language,which can well reflect his eclectic writing style.This paper focuses on the music analysis and singing research of this divertimento,and the final singing presentation is the research result of this paper.The thesis is divided into three parts.The first part summarizes Britten’s life and his vocal divertimento in different periods,and briefly describes the differences between the Lullaby and the traditional western Lullaby exploring the creative background of this divertimento,so as to do a good job in singing.The second part analyzes the musical structure,mode tonality,beat and rhythm and piano accompaniment texture of this divertimento,and exploring Britten’s diversified musical creation style.In the third part,by analyzing the singing treatment of five poems in vocal divertimento,this paper analyzes the four sections: grasping language and rhyme,analyzing singing skills,exploring emotional expression and dramatic expression.And it shows how to grasp the emotional and dramatic expression in art songs,so as to be closer to the composer’s intention,and comprehend the universal singing characteristics and skills of British art songs in the 20 th century.It tries to provide more valuable reference for the future study of art songs in the 20 th century. |
