A Study On Spring Scenery Painting Of Four Seasons Landscape Painting By Liu Songnian In Song Dynasty

Spring Scenery Painting is the first picture in Four Seasons Landscape Painting,which is one of the representative works of Liu Songnian,a painter in the Southern Song Dynasty.On the basis of basic textual research,this paper puts forward that Liu Songnian tries to construct an ideal model of Hidden City homeland for literati in Spring Scenery Painting from three representative images: Peach Blossom and Flowing Water,Returning People under Willows and Small Bridge.Through tracing the historical background,it is considered that ideal courtyard depicted in Spring Scenery Painting implies the Policy of Benevolence of the Southern Song Dynasty;By investigating the ideological origin,it is believed that Spring Scenery Painting not only manifests the promotion of Mencius’ status in the Southern Song Dynasty and the shift of painting thought brought about by it,but also witnesses the change of painting from panorama to sectional scene in the Song Dynasty.
