A Study On Menu Language Landscape And Language Culture Identity Of Chikan Old Street In Zhanjiang

Language is the carrier of culture,and language carries all aspects of culture,especially dialects,which can better reflect the local culture of the region.The regional language landscape is a practical help for the study of the current situation of language(dialect)use and language(dialect)identification in the region,and can provide evidence from the social reality environment.In addition,people are the main body that creates everything,and the identification of individuals or groups with language and culture is the key to the construction of regional culture.This article first starts with the menu language landscape of Chikan Old Street,and investigates and analyzes the use of single,double,and trilingual codes of the menu language landscape.It is found that the local pure Chinese menu has a single dialect,and only Cantonese words appear.But there is no word in Leizhou dialect.Then,by investigating the interviewee’s linguistic identity with the menu language landscape of Chikan Old Street,we conducted an in-depth investigation of the interviewee’s identity with Leizhou dialect,and found that the interviewee’s linguistic competence,language behavior,and language attitude towards Leizhou dialect The recognition of Leizhou is not high,and is significantly lower than that of Mandarin and Cantonese;the interviewees’ recognition of Leizhou’s language and culture has problems in cognition,emotion and intention,which are summarized as cognitive errors and low emotional recognition,Intentional identification is weak.Interviewees have cultural conflicts in the value orientation and behavior choices of Leizhou’s language and culture.This article believes that the reason why the local people present the above problems with Leizhou’s language and cultural identity is mainly affected by many factors such as language policy,culture,language cognition of language users,language ability and language attitude.In a nutshell,in terms of language policy,the nationwide promotion of popularization and the promotion of Cantonese throughout the province of Guangdong have affected the practicability of Leizhou dialect.In terms of culture,the mainstream Central Plains culture and the strong Cantonese culture have long influenced Leizhou culture and weakened the uniqueness of the language and culture of Leizhou.In terms of language users,Leizhou dialect speakers have a biased understanding of Leizhou language and culture,do not have strong Leizhou dialect language skills,and have a low attitude towards Leizhou dialect.Language users are the essential reason for the low recognition of Leizhou’s language and culture.
