"Machines Like Me" is a preliminary exploration of Ian Mc Ewan’s integration of artificial intelligence elements into literary texts. With his sharp pen,Mc Ewan depicts a science fiction picture of human and machine coexistence to readers.Based on the analysis of the survival picture of the simulated robot represented by Adam in the human society, this paper compares the surface setting and the deep nature of the robot. The thesis is composed of an introduction and three chapters. The introduction clarifies the connotation and extension of the ethics of science and technology;the first chapter is based on and guided by Maslow’s Theory of Demand, from the two levels of physical entity and spiritual world, the surface setting of Adam is carried out.Analysis and induction;Chapter 2 exposes the nature of Adam’s tools. The author analyzes the nature of the product and the passive attributes. It is intended to show that the human shell of a robot cannot conceal the nature of its objects; The third chapter analyzes the final outcome of the three core characters, mainly discussing Ian’s thoughts on the fundamental relationship between robots and humans.According to the research,Ian’s surface is discussing the relationship between technology and human society, but in fact it is exploring the relationship between people.Robots such as Adam and Eva choose to commit suicide alluding to the failure of technology products to enter human society. The essential reason lies in the contradiction between the anthropomorphic settings of technology products and the nature of tools.Robot Adam seems to be an individual with independent consciousness and the right to choose. What actually executes is still human will.As the executor of human will, robots, even if they are dressed like humans, the nature of things will not be changed. The design and depiction of Adam is to pave the way for an in-depth analysis of the two core figures of Charlie and Miranda. The essence of science and technology is to provide services for human society, and human subjectivity is irreplaceable. The author integrates fantasy and reality,by presenting a case where a technological product attempted to invade human society but failed miserably, expressing confidence and persistence in the forward development of human society.
