In the process of constantly crossing boundaries,contemporary art has dissolved the boundaries between the original art disciplines.Each art category breaks through the tradition unceasingly also has caused the unprecedented chaos situation.Contemporary sculpture and installation are very similar and have the characteristics of mutual learning and mutual influence,which makes the original boundary between sculpture and installation become more and more blurring.Pan-sculpture and pan-installation appeared in large numbers,which makes the installation seems to be seen sculpture or sculpture also can be called as installation.This paper takes the boundary of sculpture and installation as the research object and mainly explores the following aspects:First,the basic concepts of the two art forms are sorted out and the characteristics and definitions of sculptures and installations in different periods are summarized.On this basis,the basic distinction between sculpture and installation is made from the dimension of concept.Second,by combing the appearance of the phenomenon of pan-sculpture and paninstallation,this paper analyzes the blurring of the boundary between the sculpture and installation.Third,in order to find the boundary between contemporary sculpture and installation,this paper analyzes the differences between them from the perspectives of concept,material and creation path.Fourth,under the "crossover" trend of contemporary art,the influence of installation on sculpture in terms of concept,ready-made materials and space is explored.And we should rethink the negative influence of installation on sculpture.Finally,this paper has a brief discussion on the implantation of installation form in personal graduation works.
