Research On The Design Of Book Illustrations Based On Visualization Thinking

As the information era arrives and develops,an in-depth influence has been brought to medium,and the methods to acquire and communicate information have been changed.With the development of science and technologies and changes in reading modes,the effective communication of information which takes books as the carrier plays an increasingly important role.Information visualization has been extensively applied in the fields such as Computer Graphics,Statistics,Pedagogy and Art Design as an important theory and method in the information era.Through applying illustration design into the design of book illustrations as the organization and summary of information,new possibilities of content organization and visualization performance for illustration design and new thoughts for the construction of book levels and the improvement of reading experience have been proposed.As an expression form supplementing and extending the text content of books by applying visual language,illustrations play a significant role in the effective communication and understanding of information.In ancient times,pictures are the simple cognitive way and the embryonic form of information at the early stage.With the development of the information era and the requirements of information conveying,the expression means of illustrations have been diversified,and a large amount of information and demands for reading experience provide basic conditions for the intervention of visualization thinking to the design of book illustrations.Through effectively sorting and designing book information and visualization encoding and decoding,the main ideas of books can be effectively conveyed,so as to promote the understanding and cognition of readers.Based on the research and understanding of visualization thinking,this paper constructs the framework of visualization thinking by applying the basic models of information understanding,information architecture,encoding and decoding,discusses the design principles,design processes and design methods of visualization thinking in the design of book illustrations,finds the methods to strengthen the effective delivery and expression form of illustration information by applying visualization thinking and improves reading experience more effectively.In the aspect of design practices,the artistic expression of illustration design is made by sorting out and digging book information and applying visualization tools and methods.Based on the book design of Making a Living in Given Circumstances,this paper researches and explores the book design based on visualization thinking.This paper consists of six chapters:The first chapter discusses the research background,research object,domestic and foreign research statuses and trends,research methods and thoughts and research innovation points and explains the importance and necessity of this research.The second chapter sets forth the related concepts of visualization and visualization thinking and analyzes the characteristics of book illustration design based on visualization thinking.The third chapter mainly discusses the design principles of visualization thinking in book illustration design,analyzes the applications of visualization thinking in book design and explores the values of visualization thinking in book design.The fourth chapter leads the design practice through analyzing the specific processes and methods of designing book illustrations based on visualization thinking.The fifth chapter makes a summary and conclusion.Taking the design of Making a Living in Given Circumstances as an example,the design of book illustrations is planned through investigating and collecting the texts about the diet of southeast Chongqing,and the theories are proved and realized by book illustration design practices.The sixth chapter summarizes and concludes the results of this research and looks forward into the possibilities of book illustration design.
