Reading is one of the five basic contents of English learning. It is not only the major method for students to acquire language knowledge, but also an important way for students to understand and communicate foreign cultures. Therefore, reading teaching is the top priority of high school English teaching. However, the current English reading teaching is far from satisfactory. At present senior high school students in Jiangsu Province are facing the new college entrance examination and they have already adopted new English textbooks. Therefore,it has been considerably imminent for senior high school English teachers of Jiangsu Province to update their reading teaching mode. This study is based on constructivism theory and humanistic learning theory. It selects all the students of Class eleven of Grade one of Jiangsu Suzhou XXX Middle School as the research subjects, and uses quantitative and qualitative research methods to implement flipped classroom teaching in high school English reading. This research attempts to solve three problems: 1)What problems should we pay attention to when we design and organize flipped classroom teaching in high school English reading class? 2)What’s the effect of flipped classroom in senior high school English reading teaching? 3)How should we develop and utilize English reading curriculum resources? Before the teaching action, the author first of all conducted a questionnaire survey and reading test on the current high school English reading teaching in the class eleven senior one to find that the students have interest in English reading but they are not very confident and have reading anxiety and what’s worse they have reading problems, for example, lack of the ability to use reading strategies. On this basis, the author adopts action research to carry out a one-semester flipped classroom teaching experiment in my class. This teaching practice has been based on basic pre-class and in-class observations, interviews, peer observations and evaluations, teacher journals, etc.,to explore the specific implementation of flipped classroom teaching in high school English reading teaching to improve high school English teaching efficiency through three rounds of action research. After the teaching action is over, the author re-conducted the reading test and survey on the same subjects and processed the relevant data through SPSS.The statistics and analysis after the teaching action have shown that: 1)When we organize and design flipped classroom teaching plans,it is necessary to pay attention to the richness, interest and purpose of the pre-class learning materials, the amount of classroom tasks and homework;2)The flipped classroom can increase students’ interest in English learning, enhance students’ self-confidence in reading learning, and reduce students’ learning anxiety and thus improve the reading teaching efficiency;3)The flipped classroom can help English teachers effectively develop and utilize much more English reading curriculum resources.
