| After more than 100 years of silence,Buddhism in the late Ming Dynasty was again favored by the ruling class,showing a trend of revival,but there were also many political and social instability factors in Ming Dynasty,and there were many problems in Buddhism.Hanshan and Zibo,the high monks in the late Ming Dynasty,took it as their duty to revitalize Buddhism in this environment,through keeping company with the ruling class,they obtain the resources and conditions to revitalize the jungle.While they made many achievements,they were also involved in the inheritance and the evil book case in the Wanli era.In this process,the life track of the two monks had many implications.Different from previous studies which focused on one of Hanshan or Zibo to discuss his thoughts or pedigree inheritance,this paper intends to start with the fate of Hanshan and Zibo,makes a careful investigation of the important events that affect their lives,compares the similarities and differences of their life trajectory,and feels their various tastes in their life experiences.When they were young,they had great ambition to revitalize Buddhism,and showed their courage and ability different from ordinary people.In the process of spreading the Dharma,the political resources,the cultural circles and the personality characteristics had an impact on their life trajectory.Considering the status of Hanshan and Zibo in the Buddhist circles in the late Ming Dynasty,this paper through a comparative study of the two monks,traces their life ups and downs in a broader perspective,to see through the life history of eminent monks in the context of political struggle in the late Ming Dynasty. |
