| Yu Xin(513-581)was a great master of poetry in the Six Dynasties(222-589).We can easily find that using allusions is a feature of the poet’s works.By using allusions,Yu Xin combined historical figures and events he knew well with what he saw and felt in individual situations,and expressed his views through the words and events of historical figures,thus conveying his feelings in a highly general way and reflecting the artistic charm of crossing the ancient and modern worlds and blending them into one.In consideration of researching Yu Xin’s literary works,this paper is focus on the poet’s poetry and Fu.To gain a better understanding of Yu Xin’s poetry and Fu,this paper will divide his works into the early and later works,and analyze the main figures in the poetic allusions to the poet,according to the general research history of the poet’s works,using the poet’s visit to the Western Wei(the third year of Emperor Xiao Yi of Liang,554 A.D.)as the staging standard.The first chapter is an introduction which includes the topic and meaning of this paper,as well as a review of the study on the figure allusions in Yu Xin’s poetry and Fu.The second chapter presents the female images in Yu Xin’s poetic allusions,pointing out that the poet used female images from myths and legends and history in his early poetic allusions,such as the Weaving Maiden,the Goddess of Wushan,Nongyu,Han E,Zhuo Wenjun,Su Ruolan,and Zhang Chang’s wife,expressing his appreciation and praise for women in real life,reflecting his identity as a literary chamberlain and coinciding with the subject of common concern among poets in the imperial court style.while in his later poetic allusions,the poet chose female images of Qiliang’s wife,Xiang Fei,Wang Da’s wife Wei,and Princess Qinghe’s sad fate,fusing his own experience with historical allusions and expressing his full and deep woe for his life.The third chapter is about the image of emissaries in Yu Xin’s poetic allusions.In the early stage,the poet uses the stories of Ji Zha,Han Xuanzi,and Wang Sunyu as emissaries,using the scenes of successful diplomacy in history to echo the scenes of emissaries at that time,expressing the pride of the poet as a minister of Liang.In his later poems and Fu.the poet uses allusions to Sheng Baoxu and Lin Xiangru to show his powerlessness and grief and his implied dissatisfaction with the Western Wei government;he uses the incident of Jing Ke,Su Wu,and Li Ling to express his pity and courage in recognizing the fact that Jing Ke was such a tragic messenger who never step back,as well as the dialogue between his inner self in the light of"changing or keeping";he uses the incident of Zhang Qian and Ban Chao to express his thoughts about his hometown.The fourth chapter is about the image of emperors,generals,and officers in Yu Xin’s poetic allusions,pointing out that the poet’s early poems and Fu are written for entertainment or nostalgia of the ancient times through the affairs of emperors,generals,and officers,while the poet’s later poems use the affairs of kings such as Xiang Yu,King Wu Ling of Zhao,King Cheng of Chu,Liu Ruzi and Liu Jin to express his sadness for the offspring of the Liang royal family.The fifth chapter is about the image of famous hermits in Yu Xin’s poetic allusions,analyzing the poet’s early stage of famous people such as Shi Chong and Pan Yue and their related scenes of the He Yang Tree and the Jin Gu Garden,showing the wealth and elegance of the famous people,and the reappearance of such scenes in the later period,behind these scenes symbolizing prosperity and affluence lies the poet’s sentiment of the fickle of prosperity and decline.In the later period,Lu Ji,Wang Can,Ruan Ji,Ji Kang,and other famous people appear,and the poet writes his poetry and Fu with the proud and sad resonance with the famous people of history.The poet’s later poems and Fu contain the figures of hermits,drawing on the stories of Jie Yu,Chang Ju,Guan Ning,Hao long,Ni Kuan to outline a scene of hermit life and express his longing for a peaceful hermit life;on the other hand,he also draws on the events of hermits with high moral integrity,such as Bo Yi and Shu Qi and Tao Yuanming,to write his own heart’s shame and salute,and then analyzes the deep meaning of the poet’s writing on hermits with the example of Ode to the Small Garden.The concluding section summarizes the influence of the poet’s use of allusions to figures and the poet’s life experience on the creation of poetry and understands the significance of the poet’s use of allusions. |
