Research On Allusions In Li Bai’s Poetry

Li Bai’s poetry occupies an important position in the history of Chinese literature,and its romantic style that is powerful,free,broad-minded and elegant and graceful has a far-reaching influence on the poetic composition of poets in the later generations.Li Bai’s poetry features a rich imagination,profound feelings for life and various image combination,which are the focuses of the following researches.Little attention,however,has been paid to the allusions in Li Bai’s poetry.In fact,the application of allusions is quite obvious in Li Bai’s poetry.Li Bai is not only a talented poet but a learned poet with extensive knowledge.He applies examples from Confucian classics,historical records,philosophical writings and miscellaneous works as well as folktales and historical myths.What is more,the later poetic composition is deeply affected by the Allusion Theory.Regarded as Poet Immortal,Li Bai makes great achievements in poetry,which is closely related to his adoption of the essential methods of the Allusion Theory such as simultaneously receipt,extraordinary allusion and beyond allusion.For this reason,research on Li Bai’s poetry is inseparable from the research on allusions in Li Bai’s poetry.Therefore,it is meaningful to study the allusions in Li Bai’s poetry on the basis of Allusion Theory.The paper concludes four chapters.Chapter one focuses on the development of Allusion Theory and its connotative meaning.And Chapter two illustrates Li Bai’s thoughts shown by allusions in his poetry.Chapter Three emphasizes on the classification of allusions in Li Bai’s poetry and Chapter Four the means and style of allusions in Li Bai’s poetry.In conclusion,based on the Allusion Theory,the paper goes deep into the allusions of Li Bai’s poetry,constituting a good complement to the research on Li Bai.
