| As the Translation Studies discipline evolves and develops,MA education plays a vital role in cultivating translation and interpreting talent.Few studies have been carried out from the perspective of pedagogy.In this context,this thesis draws on Doll’s Four R’s matrix("richness," "recursion," "relations" and "rigour")and adopts mixed research methods to analyse and evaluate the following five aspects of a representative MA graduate program of MA degree education in China:objectives,curriculum design,curriculum execution,evaluation,and the teacher-student relationship.This thesis answers two research questions:A.What is the students’evaluation of the MA graduate training model?;B.What suggestions can be provided to improve the future MA degree education in China?The thesis analysed the objectives,curriculum design,execution,evaluation,and teacher-student relationship of a MA graduate program.The thesis adopted semistructural interviews and online questionnaires to investigate students’ attitudes towards the talent training model based on the analysis.This thesis concluded the pros and cons of this representative training model and proposed suggestions according to the results.Based on research and analysis,this thesis finds that the objectives facilitate the cultivation of research talents.The time arrangement of theoretical courses is illogical and the contents of them are repetitious.The translation and interpreting courses are reasonably organised.The teaching modes of some theoretical courses failed to engage students.The evaluation system is reasonable and just.The connections between students and advisors need to be enhanced.This thesis analysed and evaluated a representative MA graduate program based on Doll’s Four R’s matrix,providing a novel evaluation framework for future studies.The use of mixed research methods can inspire future translation studies.This thesis also proposed suggestions to improve MA graduate programs. |
