Research On The Construction Of Women’s Discourse In Women’s Periodicals In The Early Republic Of China

In order to investigate how women’s periodicals in the early Republican period contributed to the awakening of female consciousness and the construction of female discourse under the intense collision of old and new cultures.This paper selects "Mei Yu" founded in 1914 as text analysis object,using Fairclough’s Three-dimensional Analysis Model as the theoretical support,this paper conducts a discourse analysis study on the women’s discourse presented in women’s periodicals in the social environment of the early Republican era from three dimensions: textual orientation,discourse practice and social practice,and also incorporates the manifestation of feminism in the media discourse into a broader research.The study also includes a broader scope of feminism in media discourse.Based on the function of "media participation in constructing reality," the study explores the power mechanisms and deep social contexts behind women’s quest for intellectual liberation in the early Republican era from a critical and feminist perspective,and explores how the presentation of the current hot media content influenced the dissemination process of women’s discourse.This paper is divided into five parts.the first chapter gives an overview of the basic publishing situation of "Mei Yu",analyzes the social background of the founding of "Mei Yu" from the domestic and foreign social context and the female journals founded in the same period,and discusses the characteristics of "Mei Yu" through the data collection of the editors and the analysis of its internal writing style.Chapter two to chapter four,combined with Fairclough’s three-dimensional analysis model,makes an in-depth analysis of the discourses of different dimensions involved in "Mei Yu".In chapter two,it discusses from two aspects of text dimension and discourse practice dimension.In the analysis of text dimension,it analyzes Mei Yu’s discourse from the aspects of discourse and its actual orientation,vocabulary,grammar,coherence and structure of the "Mei Yu",old and new ideas gradually into the culture of women under the residual image positioning.In the third chapter,from the perspective of discourse practice,the author analyzes the construction mode of female discourse under the new ideas from the perspective of intertextuality and discourse sequence of "Mei Yu".In the fourth chapter,from the perspective of social practice,combined with the historical background of the suspension of "Mei Yu" at that time,the author explains the ideology and cultural hegemony hidden in the journal,so as to explore the long way in the twists and turns of the female discourse Finally,a summary of the research on "Mei Yu" is made to show the social significance of "Mei Yu" as well as the significance of the development of media and female culture.
