"The sky does not speak but the four seasons walk, the earth does not speak but all things are born." The earth is our only home for human beings. As climate change has become a global environmental problem, countries working together to address climate change have become an important issue.Although the government is actively mitigating climate change and the public recognizes that the climate change problem needs to be solved urgently, many people are still unwilling to take action to reverse this phenomenon. In the context of energy conservation and emission reduction, how to reduce the attitude-behavior gap of "climate change inaction" has become a topic worthy of inquiry.Awe is a positive emotion of self-transcendence,and recognition of self-transcendence values encourages people to engage in pro-environmental behaviors.Studies have shown that awe can affect pro-environmental behavior, but the impact of awe on climate change inaction is unclear. This research starts from the awe of positive emotions, and intends to explore the psychological impact of awe on climate change inaction, and on this basis, explore the serial mediating role of climate change beliefs and environmental efficacy between awe and climate change inaction. In order to further explore the psychological mechanism. The thesis carried out three series of studies:Study 1 explores the impact of awe on climate change inaction, including two levels of idiosyncratic awe and stateful awe.Study 1a used a questionnaire survey method to measure idiosyncratic awe and climate change inaction, and the results showed that idiosyncratic awe and climate change inaction were significantly negatively correlated;Study 1b used a singlefactor inter-subject design, recall priming method the state awe of the subjects was induced, and the results showed that the awe group significantly negatively predicted climate change inaction. To improve the ecological validity of the research,Study 2 is designed as a field experimental study, selecting real awe-inducing scenes and a wider range of research samples to test the impact of awe and climate change inaction. The results showed that, compared with the control group, individuals who induced awe had less climate change inaction, which verified the negative predictive effect of awe on climate change inaction. On the basis of research one and two,Study 3 explored the psychological mechanism of the inaction of awe on climate change through questionnaire surveys. The results show that climate change beliefs play a significant mediating role between the two,and the sense of environmental efficacy is also here. The two play a significant mediating role, and climate change beliefs and environmental efficacy play a significant serial mediating role between awe and climate change inaction. In summary, this research aims to focus on the awe of positive emotions in the context of actively responding to climate change, and explore the psychological mechanism that affects climate change inaction from an emotional perspective. The significance of the research is to reveal the impact mechanism of climate change inaction from the psychological level(successfully constructing a mechanism model with climate change beliefs and environmental efficacy as a sequence mediator),which helps to fill in the mechanism of the impact of awe on climate change from a psychological perspective; In addition, exploring its psychological factors from the individual level provides an intervention path for responding to climate change inactions, thereby reducing public climate change inactions, and trying to provide practical significance for mitigating climate change. |
