| David Fincher is a famous director with unique style in Hollywood.His films have a sense of grotesque satire.This paper focuses on the unreliable narration in David Fincher ’s films,using the theoretical framework of “rhetoric school” to discuss the ideological norms of the implied author in David Fincher’s films.Through three axes,“facts/events”,“knowledge/perception”,“values/judgments”,this paper analyzes the unreliable narratives in films such as Se7 en,Fight Club,Gone Girl and The Game.The main body of this article is divided into four chapters.The first chapter mainly sorts out the unreliable narrative theory,clarifies the important concepts or content such as the implied author,three axes,so as to clarify the theoretical framework of this paper.At the same time,this part provides an overview of David Fincher and his films.The second chapter explores the implied author’s design to find the unreliable narration in the film.In the perspective of the conversion,the use of subjective characters and objective props two more in line with the film art program,to suggest unreliable.In the control of editing,flash lens and fast-paced editing are designed to select what the audience sees to remind the unreliable narration.The third chapter studies the characteristics of unreliable narration in David Fincher’s films from the three axes of unreliable narration.On the facts / events axis,the unreliable narration of the film brings the audience into the fog and results in multiple reversals.On the knowledge/perception axis,the unreliable narration of the film highlights the sense of absurdity in contradiction.On the values/judgments axis,the unreliable narration of the film causes people to rethink human nature in satire.The fourth chapter summarizes three rhetorical effects of unreliable narrative in David Fincher’s films.The first is to deepen the theme.After finding the unreliable narration,the audience and the author reach a conspiracy to serve the expression of the theme meaning.The second is to create puzzles which generate motivation and stimulate the curiosity of the audience.The last is to through alienation effect to urges audience to participate and ponder over the film. |
