| As a sub-category of the post-apocalyptic,Wasteland presents a post-apocalyptic fantasy with desert as its main living space and low-tech,heavy-metal,and near-future as its main features.As a space-oriented practice,based on the Mad Max movies,Wasteland Weekend tries to create a third space where reality and imagination coexist in a real desert,Mojave desert.The article takes the experience perspective raised by Yi-fu Tuan to discuss the physical characteristics of wasteland weekend as a kind of space.Through Edward W.Soja’s thrid-space theory,the article analyzes how the style of wasteland presents its differential expressions through spatial practices.The article argues that the spatial practices of wastelanders have realized the isomorphism among groups and the acceptance of pluralistic identities.The topophilia of wastelanders towards the space of wastelands originates from the confirmation of diversified identities through wasteland’s spatial practices. |
