A Comparative Study On The Interpretation Of Plant Nouns In Mandarin Dictionary And Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th Edition)

Mandarin Dictionary(photocopy)(hereinafter referred to as Mandarin)and Modern Chinese Dictionary(7th Edition)(hereinafter referred to as Xian han)are two representative Chinese dictionaries in China.The two dictionaries were compiled in different historical periods,and there are some differences in the interpretation of plant words.This paper focuses on 702 plant nouns(822 meanings)in the two dictionaries,and mainly makes a comparative discussion on the interpretation characteristics from the aspects of interpretation style,interpretation method and interpretation content.Taking the collected plant words as the closed domain,this paper inputs the interpretation content of the entries into the computer,establishes the database,and processes the corpus through computer software.On this basis,from the perspective of the combination of synchronic and diachronic,this paper uses the research methods of quantitative analysis,qualitative analysis,comparative analysis and descriptive analysis to explore the interpretation characteristics of the two dictionaries.This paper mainly includes five parts:The first part is the introduction.This part mainly explains the selection and definition of the research object in the closed domain,the research methods,the review of relevant research,and the value and significance of the research.The second part mainly compares the interpretation methods of the two dictionaries.In this part,this paper makes quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis on the interpretation methods of plant words in Mandarin and Xian han,divides the interpretation methods into four categories: definition,interpretation,description and compound,and explores their use in the two dictionaries.The second section compares the similarities and differences in the interpretation of plant words in the two dictionaries from two aspects: the choice of entries with different interpretation methods and the choice of entries with the same interpretation methods.The third part mainly compares the interpretation styles of the two dictionaries.In this part,this paper first makes a quantitative statistics on the interpretation length of plant words in Mandarin and Xian han,and explores the difference between the two dictionaries.Secondly,this chapter makes quantitative statistics and qualitative analysis on the differences in the interpretation difficulty of plant words in Mandarin and Xian han from the perspective of interpretation meta language and vocabulary density.The fourth part mainly compares the interpretation contents of the two dictionaries.In this part,this paper first divides the interpretation content into sememes and personality sememes,and then classifies the sememes from the two aspects of discipline nature and quantity.Individual sememes are divided into semantic sememes and pragmatic sememes.Semantic sememes are divided into 6kinds according to plant parts: root,stem,leaf,flower,fruit and seed.This paper compares the similarities and differences of plant nouns in the two dictionaries in terms of main sememes,secondary sememes and personality sememes.This paper compares the similarities and differences of plant nouns in the two dictionaries in terms of main sememes,secondary sememes and personality sememes.The fifth part includes the conclusion,deficiency and follow-up research direction of the comparative study of the interpretation of the two dictionaries.This paper describes the inadequacies of the two dictionaries in the style of interpretation,the way of interpretation and the content of interpretation,and tries to put forward corresponding suggestions to provide some reference for the compilation and revision of dictionaries.The corpus extracted from the dictionary can also provide corresponding corpus for noun research in other fields.
